Maryland Bankruptcy Helps Short Sale Client Get Fresh Start

Maryland Bankruptcy Helps Short Sale Client Get Fresh Start

Jackie had just sold her Maryland home by short sale in the beginning of June, 2012. The lender had refused to allow the short sale unless she agreed to sign a promissory note for an amount she would never be able to pay. Knowing she had few options, Jackie found our firm by referral seeking to file a simple Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

At the time of our conference, Jackie was living in Virginia, but she felt that we could help her. I explained that it may be more convenient for her to find an attorney in Richmond, but she wanted to use our firm and file in Maryland. Reviewing the venue rules, it appeared that a Maryland bankruptcy was possible for her, but she needed to file the case within 89 days after settlement of her short sale.

Jackie was a great client: she sent me complete and accurate information and we were able to file her case in Baltimore, do the reaffirmation dance and earn her discharge with a minimum of controversy. Jackie is well on her way to a fresh start and had very kind words to describe her experience with our firm in this testimonial.
